How to buy a side of beef is an easy process. You can make the purchase for yourself or split the side of beef among a group of friends. Typically a side of beef will last four to six months in a family of four. Each cut comes vacuumed sealed and will last frozen for up to a year.
Purchasing Beef in Bulk
There are multiple ways to purchase beef from G Burbick Farms, prepacked boxes of 25, 50 and 100 pounds, by the hanging weight (1/4, 1/2 or whole). We also have ground beef available in bulk and at times select cuts.
These boxes are made of the best cuts available at the time the beef is processed. 1/2 of the box is made up of ground beef in one pound packages. The other half is made up of steaks (New York Strip, Filet, Rib, Eye of Round) and Roasts (Tip, Rump, Chuck, Round), on the choice premium cuts available The cuts will very slightly with each box

Beef Purchased by Hanging Weight
"Hanging weight" is the weight of a side of beef as it hangs on the rail in a meat cooler. Yield from an average 300lb side is 225lb of take home meat. The advantage of purchasing beef by the hanging weight is that you can provide specific cutting instructions. One concern we often hear is how much storage space is needed for the beef. Typically, a split half of beef will require about four cubic feet of storage space in your freezer, and a half of beef will require about eight cubic feet.
